Overview
WesternZagros has a long history in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The company has two Production Sharing Contracts and has both current light oil production with a major undeveloped oil and gas discovery.
Kurdamir Block
WesternZagros is the operator of the Kurdamir Block, with an 80% working interest. Kurdamir is a giant oil and gas discovery waiting to be developed. A field development plan has been approved.
Garmian Block
WesternZagros holds a 40% non-operated interest in the Garmian Block, where the company discovered the Sarqala light oil field in 2011. At the end of Q1 2021, the field was producing over 30,000 barrels of oil per day from four wells.
WesternZagros Resources Ltd, a Cayman Island registered Company, and its affiliated group of international petroleum exploration and production companies (collectively “WesternZagros”), are privately owned. Active in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq since 2005, WesternZagros signed its first Production Sharing Contract with the Kurdistan Regional Government in 2006. The company’s nine exploration wells have yielded two major discoveries. The group’s technical and administrative offices are in Calgary in western Canada.
