Mr. Simon Hatfield is the Chief Executive Officer of WZR Development ULC (WesternZagros). He has over 40 years of experience in the international petroleum industry and has held technical, managerial and executive positions with British National Oil Corporation, Esso Resources, Exxon Production Research Company, Petro-Canada Resources, Chauvco Resources, Talisman Energy and Western Oil Sands.
Mr. Hatfield has been involved in exploration and development throughout the Americas, North and West Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia, and has extensive experience in Iraq since 1995. He was the catalyst for the formation of WesternZagros and led the technical and business process which led to the Company’s major discoveries in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Mr. Hatfield holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Geology with Physics from the University of London, UK and a Master of Science degree in Geology from the University of Reading, UK. He has completed the Executive Development Program at the University of Calgary, the Director Education Program at University of British Columbia’s Sauder School/University of Toronto’s Rotman School and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors in Canada.
